 Ranji Trophy

● First edition - 1934.
● The Ranji Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between multiple
teams representing regional and state cricket associations.
● The competition currently consists of 38 teams , with all 28 states in India and four of the eight
union territories having at least one representation. The competition is named after the first Indian
cricketer who played international cricket , Ranjitsinhji , who was also known as 'Ranji'.

Duleep Trophy

● First edition : 1961-62.
● Trophy is named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar (also known as 'Duleep'), the competition was
originally contested by teams representing geographical zones of India. Since 2016–17 it has been played by teams
chosen by BCCI selectors.
● Currently only 3 teams play in this tournament - India Blue, India Green and India Red.
Vijay Hazare Trophy
● First edition : 2002–03
● The Vijay Hazare Trophy, also known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy , was started in 2002–03 as a limited-overs cricket
domestic competition involving state teams from the Ranji Trophy plates.
● It is named after the famous Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare.
● He led India to its first ever Test cricket win (and the only victory under his captaincy) in 1951–52 against England at Madras.

Deodhar Trophy

● First edition: 1973-74
● The Deodhar Trophy is a List A cricket competition in Indian domestic cricket.
● It is named after Prof. D. B. Deodhar (known as the Grand Old Man of Indian cricket) is a 50-over knockout
competition played on an annual basis among the 3 national level teams - India A, India B and India C.

Irani Trophy

● First edition: 1959–60
● The Z. R. Irani Cup (earlier called Irani Trophy) tournament was conceived during the 1959-60 season to mark the completion of 25 years of the Ranji Trophy championship and was named after the late Z. R. Irani , who was associated
with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from its inception in 1928, till his death in 1970.

Rani Jhansi Trophy

● It is India's national cricket tournament for under-19 players.

Beighton Cup

● Beighton Cup Kolkata has the distinction of hosting the Beighton Cup - the oldest hockey tournament in India.
● The Beighton Cup, held in Kolkata from 1895, and the Aga Khan Cup, held in Mumbai since 1896, are the
fore-runners of all hockey tournaments in India.
● The Beighton Cup is organised by the Bengal Hockey Association, and is usually held on the Mohun Bagan ground
every April. The Aga Khan Cup is organized by the Bombay Gymkhana, and is held on their grounds in downtown Mumbai.

Rangaswami Cup

● The Rangaswami Cup is associated with hockey. Introduced in 1928, the Rangaswami Cup, was originally known as
the Inter-Provincial Tournament meant to pick up players for the national team for the Olympics.

Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 

● It is an annual international men's field hockey tournament held in Malaysia . It began in 1983 as a biennial contest.
The tournament became an annual event after 1998, following its growth and popularity. The tournament is named
after the ninth King of Malaysia, Sultan Azlan Shah.
